There’s an episode of Star Trek called Charlie X. Now I was hoping to get the whole speech that Captain James T. Kirk gives to Charlie Evans on the subject of unrequited love but it doesn’t seem to be available easily on line. Then, when I looked at my quotes document I realized the whole speech was really unnecessary because I’d already got the most pertinent quotes from it. I present to you, the best advice on romance you’ll ever get, courtesy of Captain James T. Kirk:
In response to what you do when you care for someone:
You go slow. Be gentle.
In response to lack of mutual love and what you do in that situation
There’s a million things in this universe that you can have and a million things you can’t have. It’s no fun facing that but that’s the way things are.
Hang on tight and survive–everybody does.
Three simple yet powerful quotes that are probably the best advice for troubled teenagers I’ve yet to come across.
