Poem: A Sign

You are
A light in the dark.
The time we spend together
Keeps me sane when we’re apart.
You give me hope
That all may one day
Turn out alright after all.
I wish I could tell you
How I feel
Confess the love in my heart.
Fear bars that path:
That I am not good enough
That I am not the right one.
Know that I should let you go
Out of the love I feel for you.
I wrestle with myself
Hope fighting doubt
Yearning to take a chance
Just in case you may feel the same.
“Give me a sign,”
I cry to the Lord,
“Just one sign
To know:
Could she ever love me?”
Silence greets me.
No help from the Spirit now.
So I wait
Uncertain and hopeful
Trusting my feelings
Hoping a sign will appear
Give me the courage
To confess my heart to you.
