Poem: Rule-Breaker

Before I met you
Built a wall around my heart
Swore not to fall again
So fast
So hard.
Built moats to separate
My different circles
Guarding against
Future disappointments.
When you came into my life
Walls came tumbling down;
All my barriers
Crumble away
When you are around.
You bring out the rule-breaker in me.
You break out the risk-taker in me.
That is rare indeed!
Yet more than that
You make me
Want to break the rules
Want to take risks
And that
Is a first for me.
So, I begin wonder
Should I take the biggest risk?
Should I break my greatest rule?
And confess my heart to you?
We shall see.
