Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes: Cultural Studies in the Gospels by Kenneth E. Bailey
Presents some fascinating historical-critical analysis of the birth of Jesus; also contains historical-critical analysis and form criticism of the entirety of the gospels.

Listen

The Ancients – The Wise Men (podcast)
Covers the historical-critical context of the 1st century CE and the reception history of the story of the magi in the Gospel of Matthew.

The Bible for Normal People – [Bible] Episode 289: Pete Enns and Jared Byas – Pete & Jared Ruin Prophecy (Christmas Edition)
Looks at the prophets in the Hebrew scriptures – examines how prophecy was understood by the Israelites and how it came to be understood within the Christian communities.
