About Me

My name is Devin Hogg (he/him).

I am a tai chi (taijiquan) practitioner, writer, and digital comms professional.

I have been a taijiquan practitioner since 2004. I began my practice with Taoist Tai Chi, which is a variant of the Yang style, primarily to improve my health and manage my anxiety, depression, and dyspraxia. In 2015, I switched my focus to the Chen style so that I could practice a more comprehensive, traditional curriculum which included martial applications. I began teaching taijiquan workshops to faith communities in 2025 and I hope to continue expanding my role as a taijiquan instructor.

I have been writing publicly available prose and poetry since 2008. My writing draws on my education in the undergraduate Political Science program at the University of Guelph and my Master’s of Theological Studies from Conrad Grebel University College at the University of Waterloo. It also draws on my personal experience and passions.

My professional career has largely drawn on my education in the Office Adminstration-Executive program of Conestoga College. I have worked in a variety of customer service and administrative positions since 2009. I have been working part-time in digital communications at the City of Guelph since 2023.
