Book Review: 30 Key Moments in the History of Christianity by Mark Graham

Graham, Mark. 30 Key Moments in the History of Christianity: Inspiring True Stories from the Early Church Around the World. Baker, 2026.

An informative and accessible read. Graham highlights 30 moment from the first millennium of Christian history. Each chapter provides background context before honing in on the specific moment concerned, and then unpacks theological and ecclesiological implications for the present and future.

The moments covered span a diverse geographical context and Graham provides astute commentary in an accessible manner. Some of the theological statements Graham makes may not be widely appreciated by readership, but his historical knowledge is deep and wide.

Graham brings the first millennium of Christian history to life. He intentionally includes the great and beautiful aspects alongside the messy and terrible ones. The book is informative, entertaining, though-provoking, and accessible.

The book serves as an excellent introduction and overview to the first millennium of Christian history and will be of interest to both lay and academic audiences.
