I have been a tai chi practitioner since April 2004. I began with Taoist Tai Chi, a variant of Yang style for health. Since May 2015, I have been practicing Chen style tai chi which is the oldest of the five traditional styles, and retains the martial focus.
Tai chi is an internal style martial art (neijia) which aims to embody the dynamic balance of yin and yang energies, and to cultivate chi (qi). Chen style is distinguished by its spiraling movements called “silk-reeling” (chansijin), and its alternating of slow, smooth motion with fast, explosive strikes (fa jin).
