Poem: Stay Strong, Father Dear

So they say
It’s time to stop
Lay down your weary load
And rest a little
Before you sleep
So I fear
As duties cease
Your demons mass
Your soul to steal
Stay strong, Father dear
Though shadows haunt your thoughts
And you doubt the good you’ve done
Know that you are a light to me
A shining star
To guide my way
Though we walk different paths
Though I am a different man
You helped build my foundation of stone
You made me realize
What a man I could be
So stay strong, Father dear
For the dawn is not far
Stay strong, Father
Stay strong
