Poem: On Course

I walk a difficult path
Struggling to find my way.
Storms rage
Obstacles block my way.
I stumble.
I fall.
I rise again
And walk on.
I am lost in the dark.
Yet somehow
I take
Each next right step
And stay on course.
I run through the forest.
Leaves rustle
Wolves howl
Predators stalk
There is no clear path.
Yet somehow
I find my way
And stay on course.
I sail
Through Stormy seas.
I’m thrown
Against the bulkhead
I’m beaten, battered, bruised.
Yet somehow
I read the signs
And stay on course.
I fly through
The vastness of space.
Anomalies and enemies
Hazards known and unknown
Try to stop me
Try to destroy me.
Yet somehow
I persevere
And stay on course.
A fight goes on
Inside of me
My heart and mind
Locked in a struggle
For my very soul.
Yet somehow
With faith and hope
Honor and love
A little light shines
And I stay on course.
