I go silently with my love
Toward his destination
He’ll be leaving soon
And I wish to see him off
As countless others are doing
With their loves
We arrive and we pay
Our driver handsomely
We walk in silence for a while
Then we stop
He turns toward me
His eyes begging for understanding
My heart melts
I cannot stay mad at him
I rush to him
And our lips meet
We cling to each other
In a fierce embrace
I express to him then
With more than mere words
How much I love him
How proud I am of him
How I need him
That I will wait for him
Forever more
A tone sounds
And we break apart
It is time
He walks away
And I hug myself in despair
The shot heard ’round the world
Has reached my ears
Author’s Note: This was a poem that was written for a Grade 10 History class project.
Were you using the shot heard around the world for its WWI-version reference, then?

Um, yes. That was for a history project, I think. Grade 10 or Grade 11.

Okay. Because the shot heard around the world was originally referring to the American Revolution, but I figured you were using the WWI version, which is also used.
