Poem: Illusions

Our world is
A world of illusions
We fool ourselves
Into believing
That we are safe home-free
That our fellow man
All live in comfort
This is all there’ll ever be
We comfort ourselves
With these delusions
Ignore the majority
Embrace the minority
The majority is
An ugly sight indeed
We must not look away!
We must see the darkness
Bring light and hope
To those who have none
They will remember
The slights against them
The years of persecution
Hope against hope
We must help them
See the light
Let go of the past
Find the road
To the life
They have long served.
