Innocence lost
Soul hardened
The Great Golden One
With whom I came of age
Is ripped away
Gone
Gone away
We will meet again someday
In life beyond the mortal plane
And when we do
My heart will sing
My heart will sing
Author’s Note: This poem was written in memoriam of our family golden retriever, Murphy.
