Poem: Keeping Me Humble

My chest is red
Swollen with dangerous pride
That blinds me when
Vision is most desired
I must admit
I take steps
To poke holes in my ego
Every now and then
A balance must be struck
Lest despair take advantage
In the end
Keeping me humble
Is how I’d rather be
