Poem: Changing Seasons

Winter has ended
First hints of spring begun.
As the seasons change
So too
Does my time and purpose.
Old hopes and dreams lay dead
Friends and family lost
Old certainties
No longer certain.
My heart
Walled off
By despair and fear.
Yet the Spirit
She stays with me
Guiding my steps
Offering Her strength.
I make new choices
Lay down old burdens
Pursue new purpose
Walk new roads
Work for the day
When love fills my life
And the world improves.
Yes
The winter has been
Long and hard and cruel.
These past few seasons
Have been dark indeed
Yet I know
Who I am.
I am more myself
Then I’ve ever been before.
I choose to live
By the way of love.
I walk through the dark
By the grace of the Spirit.
Travel through the seasons
Trusting my feelings
To lead me
Where I’m meant to go.
