Poem: The Passions

The Passions

The fires burn
The passions heat
The ring of voices cry

The sea boils
The drums sound
As the parties
Go to war

Fire!
War!
Confusion!

The voices whisper
In his ear
All day long

Sometimes it seems
As if it will never
End

This war is loud to him
Unheard by others
An internal struggle
It is

At the end of the day
All he can say
Is sorry
To the ones he loves
