Poem: Enduring Conflict

In times gone by
Mankind waged war
Upon the denizens of Earth
Blood, brutal, long enduring
Conflicts came and went
Good men fought
Injured, killed, died
To bring peace on Earth
They fought the Great Wars
The big wars
And the small wars
Still the wars go on
Can peace be bought
Through price of blood?
Can war bring liberty?
Or may there be another way
To relegate death
To history?
