Poem: Lonely Heart

Yearning and aching
Pounding and thumping
Vise grip squeezing
Heartstring straining
My heart is lonely
It makes music but not harmony
It makes sound
But not resonance
It moves
But does not dance
So my heart struggles
Afraid to go on
My soul speaks
Soothing tones
Murmured assurances
“The time will come”
Says my soul,
“When you will find
A heart that beats in tune with you
A song shall be woven
So simple and true
All heaven will dance
To the sound your love makes”
My heart is lonely for now
But in the eyes of forever
My love will be long
And the lonely heart
Will be but a dream
