Poem #176

Are My Hopes In Vain?
Wouldn’t it be nice
If she would let me know
My hopes were not in vain?
If she let me know
I would dance and sing
And joy would reign!
In my darkest moments
When my heart aches
I wonder what I hope to gain.
For surely such as she
Would have no time
For one such as me.
But though I doubt my worth for her
Every fibre of body, mind and soul
Cries her name!
And so I hope
My love is not in vain.
