Poem: When You Come For Us

When the drums beat
When the wind howls
When the rain pours
When the storm rages
When darkness closes in
We will stand firm.
Strong and unbowed
Shining light for all to see.
When you come for us
With violence in your heart;
When you aim to spread
Terror and fear
Despair and heartbreak;
When war reaches our shore
And love ones are lost;
We will stand firm.
We will not give in
We will show a better way.
When darkness comes;
When violence comes;
When you come;
We believe in the power of love.
We will send love in response to hate
We will hold on to hope.
We
We are the children of God
The servants of love
And we will win.
You have no power here
Or over us.
Love is the way;
Love is the answer;
Love conquers all.
