Poem: The Lord Guided Me

I walk through the night
Fear fills my heart
Wind blows through my hair
Whispers of destiny fill my ear
In despair, I cry out to the Lord
He answers me
With hand firm on my shoulder
And voice whispering in my ear
Though the dark howls
And fear fills my being
I walk on
Guided through the night by the Lord
I am in a room
And the moment arrives
I struggle to speak
Fear threatens
My voice to take
I make the choice
I stare darkness in the face
And say
“No longer will you control me”
I bare my heart
And light comes streaming in
Now I am
Unchained and free
As I await her verdict
The Lord whispers in my ear
“Well done, my son
The dark sleeps tonight
And you can rest
In the light”
