Poem: Suffering Servant

Pain
Pain fills my being.
My heart clenches
My eyes water
My breath quickens.
I am
A suffering servant.
Honor and love
Hope and faith
And strong determination
These keep me moving on.
“Why must I suffer so?”
I cry to the Lord.
The Lord answers me:
“To teach others.
To teach yourself.
To forge you
Into a shining light.”
Peace fills me.
I feel refreshed.
Renewed
I walk on.
