Poem: Pain Of Separation

My eyes water
My breath seizes
My heart clenches
Pain fills my being.
Friends come
Friends go
Friends come again.
Every time we part
Is as the first.
Pain
Beyond all imagination.
“Help me,”
I cry to the Lord,
“I cannot bear this pain
The pain of separation
Of paths divergent.”.
The Lord answers me
“Your pain is your strength
A signal of your heart’s depth.
Your faith
Your hope
Your love
These will see you through.”
Somehow
These words free me.
I begin to see
The times that have been
They lead to this moment
I would not change a thing.
I let go
My fears and expectations
My despair and desires.
I breathe
Calm once more.
So
I do not say goodbye.
I’ll see you down the road
Through the Spirit
We are always One.
