Poem: When I Read The News

When I look at the world
When I read the news
It’s easy to see
The darkness and despair.
To find reason for fear
Feel anger
Feel hate.
Know
That the world is broken.
So easy to see
So wrong it is.
When I think
How far we have come
In mere blink of an eye.
When I see
The people around me
Small and bright.
I know
The candles hold back the dark
Love ignites stars.
As the great man said
The journey may be long
But it will end
With justice for all.
So choose hope
The night will pass
The dawn will break.
Until then
We dance in the dark.
