Poem: Simple Pleasures

So many men
Crave adventure
Seek thrills
Sink their money
Into adrenaline-rushing hobbies.
Seeking virtual escape
Empty power
High speed
Empty pleasure.
I am a man
Of simple pleasures.
Give me a good book
TV show or movie.
I’ll enjoy simple food
And simple drink.
I’ll love long walks
Alone in my mind
Under a starry sky.
Nothing is better
Than time spent
With friends and family.
Or getting lost
In simple mastery of
My own body.
I am a man
Of simple pleasures
There’s no other man
I’d rather be.
