Poem: Touch Myself

Through the day
Into the night
I am filled with pain.
My dreams
Provide no escape
No rest.
As I lay myself in bed
I let it all go.
My hands
Bring my body awake
As fire fills my blood.
My hands move
My pelvis thrusts
As I rub the pain away.
I give thanks
To the Lord
For the pleasures
Of human flesh
Of matter embodied.
I rejoice
In the fact
That I am a man.
Marvel
At the glory
Of God’s creation.
My mind fills
With images.
For a time
I pretend I am loved
By a woman
Real as me.
O Lord
One day
Let a real woman
Touch me
Even better
Than I touch myself.
Better because
On that day
Two hearts will love
Two souls will connect.
I will truly feel
All the pain
Was worth it
In the end.
