Poem: Wind And Rain And Pain

I went for a walk
In the wind and the rain
Trying to escape
The depth of my pain.
Didn’t take long
In that elemental maelstrom
To feel my soul
Become whole once more.
Who cares that
They’re soaked to the bone
When their heart carries darkness
Deeper than any ocean.
As the night grew longer
I trudged on and on
Wrestling through
My doubts and my questions.
Finding God in dark places
Wrestling with the Lord
Came away with a limp.
I need these walks
In the wind and the rain
To meet with the Lord.
Cry and laugh and rage
To live with my pain.
