Poem: Going To Be Alright

I’ve been running
Oh so long.
There’s a stitch
In my side
And my body
Is screaming for relief.
I’ve been fighting
Oh so long.
Bodies of my foes
Are piled high.
I’m coated
In blood and sweat and tears.
I’ve been carrying
This weight
Oh so long.
Pain fills my body
Grief fills my soul.
I’ve lost so much.
It’s going to be alright
It’s going to be okay.
The pain will keep coming
The dark won’t disappear.
My love and faith
Will remain strong.
The light
Will keep burning on.
I have so much
I am grateful for it all.
“O Lord,” I cry
“I thank you
For the purposes and seasons
You give to me.
For the lessons I have learned.
And for the harmony
You make out of the chaos.”
