Poem: Chen Tai Chi

It starts slow.
I move
In perfect control.
Slowly
The rhythm speeds
And energy flows
Suddenly it stops.
I’m just getting started
Faster and faster
I move.
Sweat drips down
My naked torso
Finally ready
I take up the blade.
The dance begins again
More lethal this time
More demanding.
Cold steel flashes
Body moves
And I am
One with the Spirit.
For a moment
The cosmic tumblers align.
The moment is gone too soon
But with each dance
My body
My mind
My soul
Are transformed.
Made new.
Hallelujah!
