Poem: Push Hands

We start slow
Silent and listening
Whole body aware.
Energy flows
Back and forth
Forth and back.
Speed increases
Then complexity
Conscious thought is abandoned.
I win by letting go
I fight by giving ground
I strengthen by relaxing.
It becomes play
Joy fills my spirit.
I am capable of so much more
Than I e’er dreamt.
