Poem: To Stay Or To Leave

I stood at a crossroads
No idea where to go
Clouds blind my sight
No stars to guide me by.
I was full of fear
Full of despair
So I picked up the phone
Gave her a call .
She said, “Hold on a while longer.”
I said, “Thanks Mom,”
And hung up the phone
Still not sure what to do.
So I cried to the Lord
Asked, “What should I do?”
The Lord answered me,
“The choice is yours alone.
Only this will I offer:
Fear drives you to leave
And you swore never to let fear rule.”
Peace came to me then
My course was set.
I’d walk this path a little while longer
Wait and see
What I would find along the way.
So I walked on.
