Quiet
Do you hear that?
Do you know what it is?
The cries and the moan
The tears and the shouts>
It is the voice of the oppressed .
Look
Do you see it?
Not the appearances
Calm and stoic
Or crazed with anger.
Look past the gender
The clothing and income
The colour of their skin.
See now
The pain underneath
The heartbreak
The despair
The knowledge
That they’re meant for something better.
Now
Do you feel it?
The gentle push
The quiet whisper
The tug on your sleeve
All saying
To this you must pay attention?
It is the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit
That draws the circle wide
That loves all Her children
That know their pain
And longs
For something better.
We need to pay attention
To listen
To look deeper
We need to love
Before it is all over.
