Poem: Glimpses

I glance out my window
See them walking by.
I step into the room
See the hers with the hims.
My heart stills
My pulse quickens
A stallion has stomped on my chest.
A moment becomes eternity
My demons rise empowered.
I do my best
To hide the war inside.
I sit alone thinking
Of all I don’t have.
Cold, cold loneliness
Chills my whole body.
I cry my lament to the Lord
Beseech him for mercy:
“How long must I wait?”
I cry,
“Is there no love for me?”
Just give me a sign
That alone I am not!”
And the Lord answers me
“Look deep in your heart.
The truth of your path
Lies clear to see there.”
Peace flows through me then
And on I walk
Along the path I have chosen
