Poem: Leave-Taking

My heart clenches
My breath catches
With fear
And anticipation.
I do not wish
To say goodbye.
Would that I
Could spend more time
With you
Perhaps even eternity.
I do not know
When I will
See you again.
But know in your heart
That if you call
I will come.
I will always be here
For you.
My love
Is a gift
I offer freely.
Hold in my heart
Throughout our separation.
Waiting
Hoping
To be with you
Again.
