Poem: What Is The Point?

It wells up again
Dark wave of despair.
I feel the weight
Of all I’ve failed to do;
All the mistakes I’ve made.
The future looks bleak indeed
Lonely and cold.
I cry out to the Lord,
“What is the point?
Why won’t you let me rest?
I love
But I cannot confess my love;
I love
But I must let go out of love.
I work
But I am not great;
Live in constant fear
Of errors outweighing benefits.
I cannot continue like this;
So tired of fighting
Yet I cannot rest!
What kind of life
Is a life without love?”
She answers me,
“Oh, my child!
I feel your pain.
You do more good than you know.
Keep fighting;
Keep walking;
Your hope and love
Are lights holding back the dark.
Trust your feelings;
Keep your heart open;
You will find
The love you crave.”
Let it be soon.
Amen.
